Womenomics in Agriculture

Gender disparities exist even in farming related activities. Underinvesting in women farmers leads to families living with malnutrition thus causing health hazards to families. Most women being subsistence farmers, if they are discriminated against then the whole family is at a loss of food sources. There is need to increase food security for women. Empowering women and providing assistance so they can have equally opportunities to men and independence is the tool which is key. If more women are empowered to be better farmers then there will be a decrease in the number of food insecure communities. As women nourish their children, policies and support should be given to women so that food security in the household is improved.
